A New Leaf: Israel’s Green Movement
Growing up in the Bay Area, most of us have spent our lives familiar with certain eco-friendly and eco-conscious beliefs, which seem to juxtapose common views of Middle Eastern deserts. For this very reason, we were eager to depict the innovative Israeli spirit of environmentalism, in the hopes of inspiring people to see a different Israel than that which is represented in the media.
Through the Jewish National Fund and other organizations, Israel remains committed to preserving its environment. It plants thousands of trees each year to fight desertification and dedicates millions of shekels to environmental research. And despite physical barriers and political conflicts, Israel has persevered and become a leader in green and sustainable energy.
