Tel Aviv – The Bubble
Among the major cities of Israel, Tel Aviv is unique in that it was fully built by Israelis. It’s history is wholly intertwined with that of Jews in Israel and it is this which can be said to make it a picture of Israel without all the problems the country faces to its pre-Zionist history. Because of this it is often called a ‘Bubble’, a place relatively sheltered from the conflict and tension which chronically ails the rest of the nation.
Our group set out to paint a picture of this unique city and make its atmosphere relatable to American viewers. It was decided that the most effective way to do this would be by comparing it to San Francisco, another city notorious as a ‘bubble’. Although this was obviously a simplification, the parallels between the two cities are quite striking
